i feel like compilations and soundtracks are the best way to discover new artists you'll love...with that said,
for lovers of the folk/indie idiom, this 2009 release is a piece of gold. from some already favorites like the New Pornographers, Bon Iver, and Andrew Bird to collaborations by the National & Bon Iver, Conor Oberst & Gillian Welch, and Feist & Ben Gibbard this has quickly become one of my new favorite albums ever. i know i sound like an advertisement, but also, this album is for a good cause--all net proceeds are donated to AIDS prevention and awareness group, the Red Hot Organization. so while you're jamming out to new songs by fabulous artists, you're also funding world health. awesome.a couple favorites

I don't know if "jammin' out" is what I describe doing to Dark Was the Night, but it is a GREAT album!!
