On monday I met this little boy who has a hard time saying ¨misionera¨ so he says ¨las prisioneras! las prisioneras!¨ I suppose in some sense it is a little true...
i'm fairly positive i have the rest of my mission planned out. and i think this is what the lord wants too (the more i tell myself that the more i convince myself it is true). once i leave san miguel I'm going to Islas del Maipú. it's campo and the only sector of sisters on bikes. then after 4 changes there i'm going to finish my mission in Llo Lleo-the coast. i went on monday with my comp. the campo looks a lot like the drive from nephi to cedar except greener. it is beautiful. the coast. wow. i could actually breathe. it was a little tragic when we got back to the city until i remembered that all the people i love are in san miguel. anyway, you should all google pics. we went to the beach Santo Domingo.
as far as the work goes this week was a little crazy. dionisio (the man whose mom died in january) didn't come to church yesterday. he's been talking a lot about ending his life lately, so we went to his house after church to find out what happened. he said he didn't come because God has forgotten about him. He says ever since his mom died, EVERYTHING has gone wrong. i decided this week and tried to explain to them that our trials all depend on our attitude. of course we are going to have trials and of course they are going to be hard, but we can face them with our head up having faith in God's plan, or we can weep and wallow in self pity. the difference is the results. one way we are going to come out stronger and learning something. the other way we are going to feel as though God has abandoned us and forget our purpose. But it truly is all up to us.
we started teaching this woman Susana and her daughter Yannyn a couple weeks ago. she was a bit of a miracle for us because she was a street contact and talks a lot. and she told us she's seen extra terrestrials face to face twice but she wasn't scared because all things are created by God. i don't remember if i told you last week that she told us she intends to be baptized which was really cool cause we hadn't actually taught her anything, but apparently she heard the lessons when she was like 15. anyway, this week we were talking about the first vision and she told us that is the only thing that is hard for her to know for sure--if Joseph Smith was truly called of God. She said, it's just like me telling you that i've seen extra terrestrials. i can tell you but that doesn't mean you'll believe me because you must see to believe. but i know that i saw extra terrestrials and only have my testimony and that of my husband to back me up....ya, her progress might be a bit harder than i thought.
i figure out why i've gained 5 pounds since i got here...turns out i'm having a baby! pres called me last night to tell me i'm training. which is cool cause i get to go to the temple tomorrow. and i found out last week addison is working in the office of the east mission which is on the temple grounds, so i got permission to go say hi. his birthday is today to i'm pretty excited to surprise him. i just hope he's in there and not out doing something. also, one of the hermana's that was supposed to come this change was medically delayed, so there is 50/50 chance that abby taylor (kerri's friend) will be my greenie. i can just picture mom right now thinking, oh poor kelli, how difficult the mission must be right now... yes, i feel very very blessed right at the moment.
i love you all. but i love the mission too, so i'll be staying here for the next year. hope ya'll don't mind! have a great week!
love,

p.s. i think i should win an award for how long this e-mail is.

Well Kerri, I am commenting. I love Kelli's e-mail. Her comment on how we face our trials is so true. Don't you agree? Also I wrote her a letter on Dear Elder today and it took up all the character counts and I still forgot to tell her that my friend Alan is going to Santiago next WEEK! What if they see each other. We are hoping that they will. He will be there all summer so there's a chance. Also no wait I guess that is all. Ok love you and your fam!
Love, Alicia
