it's the most wonderful time of the year

mi querida gente,
if there is one thing i know for sure, it is that God has a sense of humor.
we were teaching Orfelina for the first time and i was trying to explain the importance of asking God for the things we need through prayer. i tried giving her an example, "let's say i want some chocolate, but if i don't ask her for any she probably won't give me some. but if i say something, she will." Orfelina said, "i have some chocolate for you", walked in the kitchen and came out with this huge chocolate bar.
remember that old guy that wanted to be God so he could protect me? we went back to teach him this week and he told me, "i have been thinking about you a lot this week...you were in my dreams twice. you appeared next to my bed and God told me He put you in my path."
me - "that's because we're missionaried and help people gain eternal life."
carlos - "i want to spend eternity with you...age doesn't matter, we all die old anyway...i always suffer when i fall in love. kelita, you're going to leave and never come back and leave me here suffering...could you marry a chilean?"
after about thirty minutes of trying to talk about the gospel...
me - "we need to leave so let's say a prayer. is there anything you'd like to ask for or thank for in this prayer?"
carlos - "yes, i'd like to ask that you'll marry me"
me - "uh we're talking to God."
carlos - "i know, i'd like to ask that you'll marry me. what do you say, will you marry me?"
me - "i'd have to say no."
carlos - "why?"
me - "my heart is taken."
carlos - "i knew it. well, there's always second chances. consider it, kelita".
then the icing on the cake...today we went to the beach for the zone activity and a lesbian hit on me.
on a more spiritual note...general conference was AWESOME (hence the subject). i invite you all to reread elder Christofferson's amazing talk and repent. "whatever the cost of repentance is swallowed up in the joy of forgiveness."
and i just want to remind you all what President Uchtdorf pointed out to us, "the most powerful being in the universe is the Father of your spirit." so trust in Him in all you do. Build that relationship you'll need to be able to recognize His promptings then act on them.
