if you want to laugh or cry at the end if this story i won't judge you for either one. i'll let you all decide how i reacted after i left.
last sunday we went looking for an inactive member on our ward list and met the woman's son, Flamenio. he told us his mom had died a few years ago, she had diabetes and so does he, and he wasn't a member. he was a very fat, kind, jolly old man who gave us fresh homemade bread after we talked a little bit about the gospel with him and set an appointment to come back on friday. when we got there the door was open and everything in the house had been rearranged. a man saw us and walked outside and we asked for flamenio. "my dad passed away a few hours ago. do you want to come in and see him?" um, no, but i didn't want to be rude either...we walked in there and there were 5 relatives, candles, the coffin, and a bunch of catholic paraphanelia. i stood there having absolutely no idea what to do, so i asked, "is there anything we can do to help you?" and his son said, "if you want to give a blessing or something?" well, as you all may know, i am not jesus and do not have power to raise people from the dead, so i just went and stood by the coffin and talked a bit about the plan of salvation, said a prayer, bore my testimony, gave them a plan of salvation pamphlet and left.
welp that just about sums up my week. i hope you are all happy and healthy. stay out of trouble and stay in touch!
i love you all more than chileans love manjar.
love,
kelli jean, hruss.

I laughed. I imagined you did too.
This is one of the greatest missionary stories I've ever read.
