Fahrenheit 451

it's far too hot outside to sit, walk, stand, or do anything for that matter.
so, i'm sitting in my air-conditioned house in a rocking chair reminiscing about recent events of life and listening to a.a. bondy.
today was a good sunday. it didn't start that way. i talked to my stake president this morning and he informed me that the 12 apostles have not made a call for me to serve yet. he feels confident it will happen this week. which means i will receive it the next week. and won't leave for a few months after that. i won't lie, this mission prep thing is not all rainbows and butterflies. there are times i feel extremely discouraged, unknowledgeable (which, ironically, isn't even a word) and unworthy. i often wonder what i'm getting myself into. it doesn't help that i'm impatient and stubborn.
then i had a missionary farewell and homecoming to attend.
at the farewell i was gently reminded why i decided to go on a mission in the first place.
at the homecoming i was gently reminded i will not be the amazing teacher on my mission. but the holy ghost will be.
what i learned from all this? i've just been selfish. my focus has been on my anxiety and my problems. not on preparing to teach the people i will come in contact with and relying on the spirit.
now i am recommitting to continue to love life and live it up but focus on the well-being of others and seeking the holy ghost as a constant companion in everything i do.

on the lighter side of things, more pictures from skydiving. apparently my mom took pictures while i was in the air, so enjoy...
sky so blue
a perfect landing (on our feet!)
post-jump hair
{also, virtual hug to whoever gets the reference in the post title}

i do the hokey pokey and turn myself around...

1. The best piece of advice I was ever given was : "don't get married till you've graduated from college." welp, i'm still in college, not married, nor engaged--so maybe not the best piece of advice, but the piece of advice i actually listened to and obeyed .

2. If I had a million dollars to give to one charity I would give it to charity: water or invisible children .

3. If I got to choose my "last meal" it would be cafe rio pork salad with lots and lots of guac, watermelon, raspberry limeade, and a ghirardelli mint bliss sundae .
4. My hair is always changing. .

5. If at first you don't succeed do the hokey pokey! then try again. .

6. I have always been very independent...until i moved out .

7. Oh....and by the way.... i still haven't decided what to change my major to. so, i'm open to suggestions .

the movie was a little overdone...but i have no complaints about staring at matt damon for 2 hours.

in other news, yesterday i spent 2 weeks worth of food budget at graywhale.
yes, i have my priorities straight.

an attempt at improvement

there are some things in life that are really easy...like brushing your teeth, tying your shoes, making your bed, or daydreaming.

there are some things in life that are really hard...like math, understanding shakespeare, getting out of bed early in the morning, or paying attention.

some of the hard things we bring upon ourselves.

like diets

diets are hard

they're especially made difficult when you have roommates that like to bake, are good at it, and like to share their creations

the key to my heart

like everyone else in the world, i have my vices...so a couple of weekends ago my next door neighbor wanted to take my roommate to a movie...i'm pretty protective/possessive (or just afraid of being alone in the dark) so i told him to have her home by 10 p.m. because that's what time i was going to be home this particular night...12:10 came around and they finally walked in the door...i let him have it...just kidding, i just told him he owed me one dang big box of jr. mints or else he could never ask my roommate out again...the next day i was at the neighbor's house and he whips out this costco size box of 24 regular sized boxes jr. mints....ya, they've been on a couple of dates since then with no curfew...what can i say? i'm easy to please...and an addict
