i think i'll stick with brandi and mumford...

my lovely cousin douglas informed me that nicki minaj is the new michael jackson.  my dear friend sam informed me "she puts lady gaga to shame".  and not in a positive way....i couldn't even bring myself to post a video of her on here.
then sam showed me the latest up-and-coming dance music.

someone please tell me that this is just a really bad dream....

some people may never understand...

...my deep love for the banjo.
but you don't have to love the banjo to see that this is amazing.

and if you do love the banjo, you may appreciate this. because not only is the music cool, the video is sooooooooo bad. i can't get enough of it.

i HATE the heat....and other thoughts on life

summer is not my favorite season in utah. unless i'm sitting next to a body of water. when i grow up i'm moving northwest. oregon, washington, northern cali, or alaska. mark my words.

cycling on the legacy parkway trail just isn't the same as my routes in southern utah. but, there is one section of the trail called birnham wood. all they need to do is name a section dunsinane and we'll have a full-fledged shakespearean tragedy on our hands.

life has been going 100 mph and i don't think it will slow down until i'm retired, living in my winnebago travelling the u.s. with my handsome, charming hubby.

i made up new kesha lyrics to fit that one song..."wake up in the morning feelin' like p-diddy. i don't know how to sing but i make lots of money. i'm really really smart but i write stupid lyrics, they play me constantly on the radio so everyone can hear it....pedicure on my toes toes blah blah blah blah blah blah"

on the other hand, my life will be complete in just 15 days. (click me! click me!)

it's good to be home with my family. except i think kerri is getting sick of sharing a bed with me. (yes, i have my own bed. no, i don't sleep in it) and they left me this weekend. with absolutely no food in the house.

i went to bear lake and discovered my new favorite dessert (second only to mint choc. chip ice cream)--chocolate covered raspberries. HELLLLOOOO heaven in mouth.

i decided i want to go on a mission for the lds church. my papers are almost in but not quite cause guess what? the last thing i need is my wisdom teeth x-rays. i went in thrusday morning to get them and the dentist said her machine wasn't working. which means now i have to wait till monday. which makes me want to cry. or scream, seeing as i don't cry. either way i just want to goooooooooooo.

i love you mattie, and i'm glad you're part of my family!

cinam yadnom--that's manic monday backwards

-hit the gym for a couple hours (not watch silence of the lambs...scooby doo this time)-
-take my sweet time getting ready, checking e-mails, eating lunch-
-walk to the grocery store (enjoying the perfect 75 degree weather that is gradually turning to thunderstorms)-
-walk to the library-
-walk home...no rush, i've got no place to be-
-chat with friends-
-ice cream sundaes with friends-
-home...blog-
-bed-
life is so funny that way.
on an unrelated note, here's what i've been listening to today. nothing like a corny love song to make your day a little brighter.

kiss me, i'm irish!

in high school i always wanted a ski goggle tan line in the winter. well, i got my wish yesterday, but it is painful. i look like a cherry tomato and tiny patches of blisters all over my face. yes, ouch. not the point of this post.

i hate club sound

1. i'm pretty sure a year of my hearing ability was knocked off last night at the manchester orchestra concert.
2. not manchester orcherstra's fault. their opening bands sucked (except the features). jordan pointed out they probably owed them a favor or something.
3. it's an awful venue. really bad acoustics, really bad layout.
4. i thought i was going to pass out.
5. so much NOISE. the speakers suck.
6. the reverb gave me a massive headache.
7. the security guard acted like he owned the place and kept pushing people (including little me) out of the way.
8. my legs were weary and there was no where to sit.
9. this place makes a good band sound worse.
10. i love the avalon.

too cool for old school

remember compact discs? you know, like the things you used to buy before mp3's and keep in a giant binder in your car and took with you on airplanes along with your disc man? call me old fashioned, but i love owning CD's. not as in downloading the entire thing from iTunes, but going to an actual record store where they carry physical CD's and pulling one from the shelf and walking up to the counter and paying for it with cash and walking out of the store holding the physical CD. yes, as soon as i get home i put it on iTunes then on my iPod, but i love the look of it sitting on my shelf. plus, if by some power beyond my control all my music disappears from my computer (which has happened) i don't have to worry about losing all my music. it's still sitting on the shelf, waiting to be re-imported to my computer.

now for some old-school stats:
first cassette tape: Bananaphone, Raffi
first CD: Awake and Breathe, B*Witched and Help, the Beatles
first record: The Jazz Singer, Neil Diamond

do you remember the first cassette tape you owned? or if you're old enough, 8-track? or even older, record? or too young, the first CD you owned?

going viral

what happens when you're sitting at home with your siblings (most of them anyway) on a saturday night and your options are anything for which your brother doesn't have to move from the couch?

this happens...

a new song

last monday was the CCU 10th Ward Talent Show... so at 6 p.m. chanell, cambria, stacy, kira and i decided to write new lyrics to the well known christmas song, "Santa Baby"...we called ourselves 3 blonds and a brunette. at 7 p.m. we wowed our ward with our mad uke skills and witty words...
introducing chanell, the only other white girl i've met (besides ingrid) that plays the uke...

one + only's

sorry, this particular post has been a long time coming and i'm finally getting around to it...this song was written per request of jordan axl gough-- yes, he really did hit me in the head with a surfboard on accident, and yes, it really hurt...
also introducing my new (for those who haven't seen it) haircut--it is short
