Mr. and Mrs. Wright, officially.

it's officially official.  brennan and i were sealed on friday, june 13th.  and quite frankly, it was perfect.

when i made the sealing appointment, i intentionally made it later in the afternoon so i wouldn't have to wake up before 8 a.m.  well, so much for that.  i was sleeping soundly until a dear friend sent me a text at 6 a.m.: "hey i know it's early but let's be honest you didn't sleep last night anyway....blahblahblah"
i think i got 8 text messages between 6 and 7:30 a.m.

but it was fine, because everything else that day was perfect.  really, there is no feeling like being in the sealing room of the temple, and definitely no way to describe the feelings of kneeling across the altar from the person you love most, ready to make a covenant with them that will bind the two of you together forever...i've never felt happier in my life.  then to see all your loved ones waiting outside the temple, it was the best. everything about that day was so fun and stress free...brennan and i could just be our goofy, happy, in-love selves and not worry about anything thanks to all my family who helped to pull off our backyard reception, which was also perfect.

the photo booth and tacos were a hit, as was our first dance (video to come).  i just felt so loved that whole day.  so many people came to support us and share their love for us.  it is so great to know that there are people on this earth who care about you.

speaking of love...the greatest part and purpose of this whole day knowing that there is one person on this earth who loves and cares for you more than he loves and cares for anyone else.  man, that guy makes me feel so loved.  and that day he made me feel extra loved and so beautiful.  he makes me feel like the most important person in his world.  i'm so looking forward to moving to ohio with him on tuesday where we'll start our household together and brennan will start his medical school journey.  life is going to happen no matter where you are or what you're doing, and i'm really glad all of it is going to happen with him.

viva méxico

it's oficial....
Friday, September 13, 2013 this half chilena half north american is going to become half mexicana, too.  that sounds impossible, i know... i guess my heart will just have to grow to fit all those mexicans in it.  i'll be moving to Mexico D.F. until December 11 to go prepare the Lord's servants in the newest MTC opening this summer.  there are no words to describe the extreme range of emotions i am feeling right now...so i will express them with a song
you may or may not ever see me again.  there is the distinct possibility that i will o.d. on tacos.

close encounters of the third kind

today i experience a moment in which i was embarrassed to be a girl.
for the 4th of july, provo puts on a parade on university ave.  the night before is a mad house.  people are camped out all along the street to get a good seat for the parade.  i went to visit an mtc companion along the route.  while i was there, her sister in law jumped in front of some guy walking down the sidewalk and said, "jef!  can i take a picture with you?"  my comp jumped up and said, "it's jef from the bachelorette!"  i don't watch that show so i don't actually care and just sat patiently on the grass when to my horror, a large group of girls, once they realized who my comp and her sister in law were taking a picture with, began to gather around jumping up and down, squealing and waving their hands around like lunatics. i heard comments like, "jef with one f, i love him!"  "oh my freaking gosh, my life is now complete."  oh dear...
every time a camera was put in front of his face he flashed a smile like a pro.  he was totally eating it up.
and now 1/3 of the female attendees new facebook profile pic is that of her with her "new boyfriend" jef.

i wonder if jesus were walking through that same crowd he'd get the same reaction...

i think i'll stick with brandi and mumford...

my lovely cousin douglas informed me that nicki minaj is the new michael jackson.  my dear friend sam informed me "she puts lady gaga to shame".  and not in a positive way....i couldn't even bring myself to post a video of her on here.
then sam showed me the latest up-and-coming dance music.

someone please tell me that this is just a really bad dream....

it's the american way...

hmm...i have no explanation. but i have a feeling this picture was my idea.
4th of july 2 years ago, bear lake aka lake+fireworks+rasberry shakes+danger on the waverunner=perfect 4th of july--that's my cousin dougy on the left. he's on a mission in south africa and he gets home october 2nd. i'm so stoked! (p.s. ladies he is single) on the right is my old bff shawn. and the butt belongs to douglas' brother topher. what a weasel.
1. The very best thing about the summer is the 4th of July. parades, fireworks, baseball, bbq. it just doesn't get better than that .

2. My first crush ever was 1st grade = Travis Christensen. one day we stayed in from recess and my friend frankie kissed him, so i decided to as well. didn't want to be left out. .

3. This may sound really silly but i'm like a little kid answering the phone when it comes to checking the snail mail. once i figure out what time the mailman comes to my complex, i'm the first one out the door with the mail key. sad thing is, most of the time there's nothing for me .

4. I squeeze my toothpaste from the end of the tube of course .

5. My absolute favorite "comfort food" is i don't have a comfort food. i have comfort music. sometimes i get the coconut chocolate brownies at pastry pub though. mmmm. i think i'll go get one now .

6. A random fact about me is that my absolute favorite flower is sunflowers and i'm allergic to them. it's so sad. .

7. The one piece of technology that truly makes my life better and I couldn't live without is my iPod. is that really surprising to anyone?

this tornado loves you

this country girl turned indie rocker turned soloist has the most underestimated female voice of our day.
ya, that's a bold statement, but i fully believe it.
i first heard neko case at the twilight concert series in 2008. the only bad part about that concert was there wasn't a bad part. she was amazing. her tone is crystal clear and the lyrics of her original songs are so poetic. and her covers...well, some of them are better than the original. let's face it, i have a major girl crush on neko.

i first fell in love with her to this song

and lastly, get in touch with your country roots

make your heart melt...

or just make me cry with laughter...i'm proud to say i've been going to school with these boys since elementary...and went out with the one in the hat (tyler). this video landed them an interview on KSL (a local news station).

also, i'm officially an idiot. as i was driving back to school today i got to payson (an hour away from home) and realized i left my right lung sitting on my desk aka my iPod. bless my mother for her understanding--i'll be expecting it in the mail in just a couple of days.

breaking news

Once upon a time (aka 5+ years ago), in a land not so far away, there lived many princesses. They, with several princes, attended the "Holy Academy" (get it, woods cross) where they learned the skills necessary to become Kings and Queens. This is also where they fraternized, socialized, and caught each others eyes. I made a desperado princess friend in this land that we'll call Katie, cause that's her real name. She was very noble and beautiful, and the kindest of all the princesses. Many of the princes noticed her, but alas, they were intimidated by Katie's beauty, nobility, and kindness.
One day, a handsome, noble, and kind prince we'll call BJ (cause that's his real name) got up the courage to court Katie. He flattered and wooed her, and Katie grew fond of BJ.
But alas, the time came, as it does for all princes, to travel to a far away land to learn many things pertinent to his success. During BJ's absence, many princes sought after Katie, in hopes of winning her heart. I thought that these princes did not measure up. Which they didn't.
BJ returned taller, wiser, and handsomer (is that a word?). Katie was smitten by the prince. Do not be fooled, it was not easy to win her heart. But after more courting and convincing on BJ's part, Katie came to the conclusion she'd love nothing more than to spend the rest of the eternities with BJ.(sorry kate, this is the only picture i have with both of you in it..weird) Congrats my desperado heart! I love you and am so thrilled for you both!

teacher talk gangsta

remember when this lady made me cry? well, these exact words are what came out of her mouth at my lesson this week. "man, i'm starting to hear some glorious sounds coming out of you, girl."
i love my life.

my poor 30gb ipod will not hold all 9,000 songs in my library. it is very sad when every time i get new music i have to delete something to get it on my ipod.
time to upgrade...when i can afford it.

i've hated mcdonald's for a very long time. i can't say forever cause i'm pretty sure i loved it when i was little. but that was also back when i drank sprite. anyway, dr. pepper is a necessity for the drive to and from home and cedar. it was my first time buying a drink from mcdonald's in years and i asked for dr. pepper. when i got to the pay window he said, "mr. pibb". wtf. but i decided to be open minded--only to discover it is NOT the same.
dr. pepper is better.

sacrament meeting in midway is always interesting...but sunday takes the cake.

after we sat down, my sister brooke turned and said, "that guy on the far right looks like elder holland." i looked up and said, "that's cause it is."
then the first youth speaker got up and said, "because i am nervous and i am tired i'm going to cut to the chase. Latter-Day Saints in Utah are prideful."
she then went on to explain that she did not consider herself a "utah mormon".
all the while, elder holland is sitting behind her on the stand.

remember this post? well, here is how i feel about the phrase "utah mormon". it is a horrible generalization that does not exist and an extremely hypocritical statement. there are prideful mormons in utah. there are humble mormons in utah. there are prideful mormons outside of utah. the are humble mormons outside of utah. there are prideful people of other faiths all over the world. there are humble people of other faiths all over the world. and that is the simple truth.

goodbye quasimodo

the day before thanksgiving, my family had a "pre-holiday party"...aka deep clean the house. i was working at my old job that morning and unable to attend. a day later, i opened our game closet only to find all of our disney vhs' were gone. snow white, sleeping beauty, cinderella, oliver and company, beauty and the beast, even the hunchback of notre dame were all missing! all the classics. when i inquired as to their whereabouts, i was informed my family had taken them all to D.I. when i expressed anger about this dark deed i was told, "that's what you get for not being here to clean."

fast forward (vhs style) to today

i went to D.I. to get some holiday garb for an ugly sweater party tonight. as i walked up to the checkout line, i heard the man in front of me say to the cashier, "yes, these'll give my daughter endless hours of happiness." i looked at the counter to see what he was buying. to my horror, i saw 10 of my old disney movies. as i watched my childhood slip away, bar code by bar code, it was all i could do to keep myself from grabbing the videos and running for the door. my hands were twitching, then i remembered i'm not very quick on my feet right now.
i suppose it is the season of sacrifice.
i just hope that girl appreciates the pot of gold her father is giving her this christmas.

i ain't sayin' she's a gold digger

someone very seriously asked me, "when it really comes down to it, what are the three essential things you want in a husband?"...some would say spirituality, sense of humor, or wisdom
my thoughts:

-a hot body
-wealthy

-basically, paulie bleaker
shallow? maybe
honest? a little too...
practical? completely

what do you want?

where did october go?
i'm back in my lame september garb cause it's way too hot to be wearing a cute sweater while i walk to class.
i learned that lesson yesterday...

the sweater was the only thing to make my outfit cute cause i didn't feel like picking out a sensible ensemble. i had a feeling i would regret that decision. by the time i hobbled to my 9 o'clock class i was swimming in sweat and i looked and smelled DISGUSTING. which was sad because in my history class there is this cute boy who i never thought would talk to me (partially cause this boy is in that class with me) but he did. he even gave me his seat last week so i wouldn't have to sit off to the side in the front of the room by myself. and today we started talking about music and he said, "we should totally jam sometime". yes, yes we should. only he didn't ask me for my number. probably because right after he said that he inhaled and got a woof of yeti scented perfume aka me yesterday.

but on the bright side, there is no snow which is fantastic cause i'm still on crutches.

what is your most embarrassing moment in front of someone of the opposite sex?

nslpd blue

whatever vendetta that has been placed on me by the NSLPD, despite the many house visits while i lived at home, apparently they did not fulfill whatever goal it is they have...

driving home from a visit to the edward's residence i arrived at a four-way stop. it was late at night and there were no other cars coming, so i stopped for maybe less than a second and proceeded through the stop sign. those cursed flashing lights came on behind me and i pulled over. i didn't have my license with me seeing as i was only going up the street.
i explained why i was there (so mr. edward's could look at my injured foot)...
i explained i was a college student visiting home...
jayne (my passenger) explained i had a perfectly clean record....
still, he felt compelled to give me a ticket

i hope he's happy for giving a safe driving, poor, college, gimp a ninety dollar ticket

how bizarre, how bizarre

there seems to be a rampant outbreak of odd testimony meetings, especially last week...

in my home ward, this woman got up and told us in detail about the road trip she took at the end of the summer with her troubled son that needed to learn a few lessons...she kept alluding to her childhood and the paper route that stayed in her family for 16 years...it was all very confusing, but she summed it up with "take your kids fishing". i figured after that people would try to keep things simple truth and try to bring the spirit back...instead a woman got up and bore her testimony about their unglamorous disneyland trip. the irony was, the most powerful testimony i heard came from a girl who gets up monthly, and until this sunday i never understood what she said between sobs.

then my mom told me this one:
"As per our conversation yesterday about bizarre testimonies - a teacher today told about her meeting. A woman stood up and bore testimony about how awful her week had been; her husband had surgery on his scrotum and was unable to do anything. She repeatedly referred to his scrotum as the audience was snickering. The woman finally sat down and her husband went up to the mike* and said, "It was my sternum" and sat down. LLM"

but my personal favorite is one published on Apron Stage a while ago:
"I heard this story from two different people who were actually in this testimony meeting this month:

The bishop’s wife is the first to get up to bear her testimony. She says, “The bishop is having an affair and it’s with YOU.” She points down at the first counselor’s wife. The wife bursts into tears and runs out of the meeting. The bishop follows her out and then the first counselor follows them out. The second counselor gets up and
says they’ll end the meeting early."

what happened at the weirdest testimony meeting you've attended or heard about?

*mom, and whoever else might be confused--when referring to a microphone as a "mike" it's actually "mic"...same pronunciation, different spelling
